1. Introduction

Welcome to WatchMori ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the WatchMori mobile application (the "App").

WatchMori is an anime tracking application that allows you to:

• Track anime you're watching, plan to watch, or have completed
• Search and discover anime using the AniList database
• Earn experience points (XP) and level up as you watch
• Sync your watch list across your devices using iCloud

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you use Sign in with Apple:

• Apple User ID: A unique, encrypted identifier provided by Apple. This is the ONLY piece of account information we store.
• We do NOT collect: Your real name, email address, or any other personal information from Apple.

2.2 Optional Display Name

• Display Name: You may optionally set a display name (nickname or handle) in your profile settings.
• Privacy Notice: We explicitly warn users NOT to use their real name or email address as their display name. This is for display purposes only and may be visible if you enable social features in the future.

2.3 Watch List Data

We store information about the anime you track:

• Anime titles and IDs (from AniList)
• Your watch status (watching, completed, plan to watch, dropped)
• Number of episodes you've watched
• Your personal rating (if provided)
• Notes you add to anime
• Date added to your list

2.4 App Preferences

• Theme preference (light, dark, or system)
• Title display preference (English or Romaji)
• Sort order preferences
• Notification settings

2.5 Gamification Data

• Total XP (experience points) earned
• Current level
• Statistics (total episodes watched, total time watched, etc.)

2.6 Cached Images

• Anime cover images are cached locally on your device (up to 25 MB) to improve performance and enable offline viewing.
• You can clear this cache at any time in Settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Provide the Service: Store and sync your watch list across your devices
• Personalization: Display your statistics, XP, and level
• Improve the App: Fix bugs and improve performance
• Optional Features: If you enable social features in the future, your display name and public watch list may be visible to friends you connect with

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage

• All of your watch list data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData (Apple's modern data persistence framework).
• Your data remains on your device even when offline.

4.2 iCloud Sync

• For Apple ID Users: Your watch list is automatically synced to your personal iCloud account and across all your devices signed in with the same Apple ID.
• For Guest Users: Data is stored locally only on your device and does NOT sync to iCloud.
• Important: iCloud data is stored in YOUR personal iCloud account, controlled by Apple. We do not have access to your iCloud data. Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy applies to data stored in iCloud.

4.3 Security Measures

• We use industry-standard encryption for data transmission
• Your Apple User ID is stored securely in iOS Keychain
• All data is encrypted at rest on your device
• iCloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 AniList API

• We use the AniList API to provide anime information, cover images, and search functionality.
• When you search for anime, your search queries are sent to AniList's servers.
• AniList's Privacy Policy applies to their service: https://anilist.co/terms
• We do NOT share your watch list or personal information with AniList.

5.2 Sign in with Apple

• We use Apple's Sign in with Apple service for authentication.
• Apple's Privacy Policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
• We receive only an encrypted User ID from Apple - no name or email.

5.3 Image Caching

• We use the Kingfisher library to cache anime cover images locally on your device.
• Images are downloaded from AniList's servers and stored locally for faster loading.
• No tracking or analytics are performed by Kingfisher.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

We may disclose your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Legal Compliance: If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
• Safety: To protect the safety, rights, or property of WatchMori, our users, or the public
• Business Transfer: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (users will be notified)

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access Your Data

• You can view all of your watch list data, preferences, and statistics within the app at any time.

7.2 Export Your Data

• You can export your entire watch list as a JSON or CSV file from Settings → Data Management → Export My List.

7.3 Delete Your Data

• Clear All Data: Settings → Data Management → Clear All Data (removes your watch list but keeps your account)
• Delete Account: Settings → Account → Delete Account (permanently deletes everything including your account, XP, and preferences)
• Important: Data stored in iCloud will remain in your iCloud account even after deletion. To remove iCloud data, you must delete it from iCloud Settings on your device.

7.4 Sign Out

• You can sign out at any time from Settings → Sign Out
• Your local data remains on the device after signing out

7.5 Guest Mode

• You can use the app in Guest Mode without signing in
• Guest data is stored locally only and does NOT sync to iCloud
• Guest accounts do NOT have XP tracking or social features

8. Children's Privacy

WatchMori is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will delete such information.

9. International Users

WatchMori is available worldwide. Your data is stored on your device and in your personal iCloud account (which may be in any region based on your Apple ID settings). By using the app, you consent to the transfer of information to your iCloud region as determined by Apple.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes:

• We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• For material changes, we will notify you via the app or by email (if we have your email)
• Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy

11. Data Retention

• Active Accounts: We retain your data as long as you maintain an active account
• Deleted Accounts: When you delete your account, your data is immediately removed from your device. iCloud data follows Apple's iCloud retention policies.
• Guest Accounts: Data is retained until you clear the app data or delete the app
• Image Cache: Cached images are automatically cleared when the cache exceeds 25 MB or when you manually clear the cache

12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Opt-out of the sale of your personal information (Note: We do NOT sell personal information)
• Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

13. European Users (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
• Erasure: Request deletion of your data
• Portability: Export your data in a machine-readable format
• Object: Object to processing of your data
• Restrict: Restrict processing of your data

Our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (by using the app) and performance of our service.

14. Future Social Features

WatchMori may introduce optional social features in the future, such as:

• Adding friends and viewing their public watch lists
• Sharing watch list activity
• Comparing lists with friends

15. Analytics and Tracking

We do NOT use any analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. Your usage of the app is not tracked or monitored. We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or similar technologies.

16. Open Source Libraries

WatchMori uses the following open-source libraries:

• Kingfisher: Image downloading and caching (MIT License)

These libraries do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information.
